Frameless and slim-profile windows for contemporary and period homes. IW Windows maximise the glass and minimise the visible frame, from fixed frameless panes and frameless glass corners to opening windows — pivot, tilt and turn, sliding and hinged — in slim aluminium, steel or wood frames. Each window is made to the project, with bespoke glass sizes up to 4,000 x 2,000mm. Larger or stepped openings can be glazed with panes joined glass to glass, and sizes above the stated maxima are considered project by project. We detail with the architect so the glazing reads as part of the building rather than an insert.
Fixed panes with the frame concealed in the floor, walls and ceiling, so only the glass is seen from inside. Used for picture windows, clerestories and frameless glass corners.
Where a window needs to open, pivot, tilt and turn, sliding and hinged sashes in slim frames sit alongside the fixed panes and keep the sightlines consistent.
Larger openings and stepped glass windows can be glazed with panes joined glass to glass, so the view is continuous across the change in level or plane.
Sizes, shapes, glass build-ups and frame finishes are specified project by project, for new-build, extension and period settings. Sizes above 4,000 x 2,000mm are assessed per project.
Double or triple glazing, with toughened or laminated glass where safety or security requires it. Performance is specified to the project (see technical specifications).
Two panes meeting with no corner post, for uninterrupted views at the corner of a room. See glass-to-glass connections for how the junction is detailed.
Large fixed frameless panes, up to 4,000 x 2,000mm per pane, that frame a view and bring daylight deep into the plan.
Stepped glass windows and larger openings glazed glass to glass where the architecture needs a continuous plane.
Slim-profile and frameless windows alongside traditional materials, as at Cloately Manor, Manor Farm and Winkford Farm.
Gable, raked and irregular shapes made to the opening.
Available in toughened, laminated, or double/triple-glazed options for enhanced performance and security.
Bespoke glass sizes up to 4,000mm x 2,000mm per pane. Larger openings can be glazed with panes joined glass to glass, including stepped glass windows. Sizes above these maxima are considered project by project.
Double or triple glazing specified to the project's thermal targets. U-values are confirmed per project.
Available in aluminium, steel, or wood frames, offering flexibility for both modern and traditional designs.
Specialised glass options available for superior soundproofing, ideal for urban environments or noisy locations.
Frameless windows hide the frame in the surrounding structure, so you see only glass. Slim-framed windows keep a visible but very narrow frame, which is what allows a window to open — as pivot, tilt and turn, sliding or hinged.
Fully frameless panes are fixed. Where you need ventilation, pivot, tilt and turn, sliding or hinged windows in slim frames can be combined with them.
Often, yes, but in listed buildings and conservation areas it depends on consent, so we recommend speaking to the conservation officer early. We can advise on detailing options.
